Meine awarded Catholic United Service Award
Maxine (Max) Meine was recently awarded the 2021 Catholic United Service Award at St. Raphael Church on Saturday, November 20.
Meine’s family including her grandchildren watched as Christa Schilling, a local Member Advisor with Catholic United presented the award to Meine.
“Every year St. Raphael’s volunteer team gathers together to decide who should be awarded the Catholic United Service Award,” said Schilling adding, “This year’s award winner has had her hand in our parish and our community for many years. She is a member of church choir, co-president, and member of CCW, eucharistic minister, lector, counting the offerings, decorated and hosted a sparkle and dine table, worked many fund raisers, helps coordinate cleaning the parish house, helped plan Father Phil’s 40th Celebration, and chair for the fall festival.”
In addition, Meine is involved with Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, St. Johns Circle Of Care board of directors and auxiliary, Springfield Community Theater, and past secretary for the Brown Country Pork Producers.
Father Garrett Ahlers is so happy that she received this award. He explained saying, I moved to Springfield about 16 months ago from New Ulm and Max Meine was one of the first people who greeted me at the parish. I was so impressed with how sweet and kind and generous and loving she was. Being able to get to know her over these last 15 months has been such a delight. So, when I was approached by Catholic United about this award and they said they were giving it to Maxine. I thought she was one of the most deserving people I could have imagine to receive this award. I’m so happy for her and I’m so proud and I wish her all my best.”
“I was very surprised and very humbled to receive this award. I have been so blessed with so many wonderful mentors who have worked with me side by side on various community projects. We live in such a wonderful caring community where everyone is so willing to help each other. I’m very grateful and honored to be chosen for the Community Service Award,” stated Meine.
