Sturm receives CUF Community Service Award

Catholic United Financial, fraternal benefit society, annually recognizes an individual from St. Raphael Parish who has demonstrated and committed achievements in both their church and community.  Robert Sturm is the 2022 recipient of the award.

Sturm is very involved in St. Raphael’s Parish, serving as a Catechist, Eucharistic Minister and Lector/Commentator.  He is also a member of the Springfield Catholic Order of Foresters and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and has served as the coordinator of the annual sauerkraut and dumpling fundraiser.  Bob has also served as custodian at St. Raphael School.

Sturm is an avid sports fan and participant.  He played varsity baseball for the Springfield High School Tigers and for the Springfield Tiger town team.  In 1964, he received the Bassie Wagner Memorial Trophy as leading hitter with a batting average of 431.  He received the same award in 1966, 1970 and 1971.  Bob also played for the Springfield Tigers in the Minnesota State Baseball Tournaments in 1961-1963 and in 1966-1969.
