United Methodist Church hosts ecumenical service
The Springfield United Methodist Church hosted the Riverside Days ecumenical worship service held Sunday, June 30. A nice crowd of parishioners from the Springfield area gathered for the service. It was originally planned to be in Riverside Park, but due to flooding, was moved to the church. Pastor Michael Baker, United Methodist Church, Pastor Kent Furch, Northwood Church, and Deb Beyer led the service. Beyer read the scripture and led the call to worship, Baker delivered the message and Furch led the confession and prayers.
Gospel Express, pictured above, Megan Quesenberry, Jo Schwartz, Jeff Krueger and Bailey Cords—provided special music during the service. Amy Lee provided piano prelude and offertory music and accompaniment for the hymn-singing.
A special offering was collected for the S.A.F.E. (Springfield Area Food Emergency) program run by the Ministerium of the community.
