Comfrey School’s BPA has four State champs

Comfrey School’s BPA (Business Professionals of America) team competed at regions in January and advanced all twelve of its members to the State Conference. The team had a very successful State Conference in March advancing six members to nationals. Comfrey had to compete with 67 other schools throughout the state amounting to over 1,200 participants in 64 events.

Comfrey had four state champions: Amber Dauer-Advanced Accounting, Katelynne Kratz-Intermediate Word Processing, Dylan Haugen-Advanced Spreadsheet Applications, and Allison Jensen-Legal Office Procedures. Kratz also advanced for Fundamental Spreadsheet Applications and Haugen for Integrated Office Applications. Others who advanced to nationals are: Hailey Currey-Fundamental Spreadsheet Applications and Ariel Peterson-Advanced Office Systems & Procedures. Dauer was also a finalist in Advanced Spreadsheet Applications. Haugen was a finalist in two events: Financial Math & Analysis Concepts and Administrative Support Concepts.

That adds up to fifty percent of Comfrey’s BPA advancing to nationals. Their advisor, Donna Krueger, stated, “I have said all season that this is my DREAM TEAM, but I still can’t wrap my head around FOUR state champions coming from the little school of Comfrey.”

The National Conference was to be held in May hosted by Washington D.C. It has been canceled due to COVID-19.
