Keith Olson’s busy Marathon year comes to close

There is a club called Marathon Maniacs that I am a member. They track all the races its members have completed. There are rules to follow on what qualifies as a countable marathon in their bylaws. For instance, for it to count as a legitimate marathon, it must have at least 10 finishers. The course must be certified in length and be publicized in print weeks in advance of the event. Plus, other rules. At the time of the writing of this article, I am ranked 95th of all the Marathoners in the United Staes for the most marathon distance (or longer) completed in 2023. I visited a total of 13 different states and completed 17 total marathons since March.
