New exercise class coming to Springfield

Catholic Charities of Southern Minnesota is bringing a new exercise class to Springfield as part of it’s Active Aging Program.  The Stay Active & Independent for Life (SAIL) program will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays at 9:00 a.m. at the Springfield Area Community Center beginning Monday, August 8.   The weekly class will help participants stay active and independent for life— improving  strength, balance and flexibility as well as decrease the risk of falling.

SAIL is an evidence-based program designed for men and women aged 55 and over to increase strength and improve balance.  It will be held twice a week all year long and is FREE to all participants.  Hand and leg weights will be provided.  Participants are asked to wear comfortable and sturdy shoes and bring your own water bottle to hydrate during the session.

The session leaders are all volunteers from the community that have been trained to lead the SAIL classes.   They are excited to get started and want everyone to have fun while exercising.

Pre-registration or questions about the SAIL program can be emailed to mcassem@ccsomn.org or call 507-458-9687.
