Show scheduled for local artist, Neil Neidt
Local artist Neil Neidt will be having an art show opening on Friday, February 7, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Altermatt Gallery in the Springfield Public Library.
Neidt is a visual artist specializing in oil paintings, watercolor paintings, and digitally enhanced photos. He’ll have over twenty new pieces that haven’t been shown before.
Many are local to Springfield and have area themes, explained Neidt.
Many in the community remember Neidt as an art teacher at Springfield Public School. He taught here for 35 years. However, he didn’t do a lot of professional work until he left teaching.
Since he’s stopped teaching, he’s been painting professionally for the past six years. He’s been painting for close to fifty years now.
A few of the pieces that will be shown are inspired by American artist Georgia O’Keeffe and French impressionists.
“This activity is made possible by an artist grant provided by the Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council from funds provided by the McKnight Foundation.”
Mcknight brings fine art to small communities, said Neidt.
Opening night reception will be Friday, Feb. 7, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Show dates are Friday Feb. 7 through Friday Feb. 28, 2020 during regular library hours. There will be approximately thirty-five artworks on display.
