Springfield Sings ~ Jackie Reindl wins

“I have always liked to sing,” says Jacklynn Reindl, 16, winner of Springfield Sings competition Saturday evening.

Jackie, daughter of Karen and Barry Reindl, sang “Safe and Sound,” a song by Taylor Swift, the princess of country music, to a soundtrack by The Civil Wars.

The song was the choice of Jackie’s mother and sisters.   Jackie auditioned several songs for her family. “They said it suited my voice best,” Jackie said. The judges agreed. The judges also praised Jackie for her good stage presence.

Jackie’s been singing for as long as she can remember. “My Mom said I would hum myself to sleep,” she said.  “I was always singing around the house.”

A junior at Springfield High School, Jackie is a member of the Springfield High School Band and Choir. She sings with the Youth Choir and is a song leader at St. Raphael Catholic Church.

Jackie now advances to the second annual Minnesota Sings Finals at St. Paul in September. For more of the story see this week's Springfield Advance-Press
