St. John’s Circle of Care has new daycare director
St. John’s Circle of Care is happy to introduce their new Daycare Director, Haley Braun. She began her duties December 28 and has been busy getting to know everyone, the facility and trying to be involved with residents virtually at this point.
Haley was born and raised in Kerkhoven, Minnesota. She attended Ridgewater College and has worked in early childhood education for eight years. She was the Director of the YMCA Childcare Center in Willmar the past year.
Ms. Braun enjoys working with children. “Children have always been a passion of mine. Helping them learn and grow at a young age sets them up for success in the future,” she said in a recent interview.
St. John’s intergenerational setting, interacting the nursing home residents and the young daycare children, is a unique and challenging program for the new director. St. John’s was one of the first in the state to offer childcare in the nursing home setting. It’s programs are called St. John’s GrandKids and the V.I.K. (Very Important Kid) Program. St. John’s expanded its daycare facilities by converting the former assisted living apartments, known as Vista Ridge, into preschool classrooms in 2019.
Shandell Sell, St. John’s Infant teacher and the Interim Daycare Director since September, knows Haley will make her program successful. “She’s very energetic and willing to learn the new parts of the intergenerational program that we all know and love,” she commented.
To her students, parents and the community, Haley says, “I am excited to be a part of a great team at St. John’s and am excited to see where we can go in the next couple of years with the GrandKids. I am also excited to learn more about the community and get to know everyone.”
Haley and her boyfriend, Ryan, recently purchased a home in Sleepy Eye. They have two dogs—Zues and Milley May. They love camping and spending time at the lake in the summer.
