34 members Class of 2019 to graduate Friday evening

Springfield High School will conduct its 2019 commencement Friday evening, May 17, starting at 7:00 in the school gymnasium.

Thirty-four graduates will walk through the school corridors one last time as students, march into the gymnasium to the music of Pomp and Circumstance to receive their diplomas, and after an impressive program, they will leave the sheltering wings of their school to begin a new phase in their lives.

Class scholars, Valedictorian Elijah Kirschstein and Salutatorian Sarah Dunn, will give the commencement address.

The Springfield High School Band directed by Stephen Seaberg, and the Concert Choir directed by Jacob Kempenich, will present several musical numbers during the program.

High School Principal Patrick Moriarty will present the Class of 2019. Superintendent of Schools Keith Kottke and School Board Chairman Jeff Kretsch will award diplomas to the graduates.

Scholarships and special awards will be presented during the program.

Commencement is a milestone — one of life’s benchmark occasions, a time when graduates, family and friends gather to celebrate past and future. Commencement in Springfield is a community celebration that spans the weekend and more.  Hundreds of community members and guests are expected to attend graduation exercises. There will be many parties and open house receptions honoring graduates this weekend with gatherings morning, noon and night.
