Art show opens with reception this evening

The Springfield Public Library will hold open house this evening (Wednesday, October 18) to celebrate the opening of the annual Juried Art Show.  

The reception will be in the Altermatt Gallery from 7:00 to 9:00. All participating artists and the public are invited.

Awards will be announced at approximately 7:30 p.m.

All entries are eligible for individual awards totaling $2,550 in cash: including a grand prize of $500; first prize of $400; second prize of $300; three honorable mention awards at $150 each; 10 certificates of merit at $75 each; and a people’s choice award of $150.

The art will remain on display through Wednesday, Nov. 22. The public is invited to view the art during library hours.

The juried art show is being held in Springfield for the seventeenth consecutive year with a generous grant from the Pieschel Family Foundation.
