Artists sought for Juried Art Show

The Springfield Public Library will be host its Fifteenth Annual Juried Art Show this fall with a generous grant from the Pieschel Foundation.  The show will be held in the Altermatt Gallery of the Springfield Public Library, from Wednesday, October 12, through Wednesday, November 23, 2016. 

A reception will be held Wednesday evening, October 12, from 7:00 to 9:00.  Awards will be announced at approximately 7:30 p.m.  All participating artists and the public are invited.

Artists are invited and encouraged to enter the show. 

Artist media categories include: Oil/Acrylic Painting, Sculpture, Mixed Media, Watercolor Painting, Drawing Media, Print Media, Photography (photographers, please note if works are digitally enhanced), Digital Imaging (original computer designed images), Glass Blowing, Stained Glass, Pottery / Ceramics (no pre-cast or pre-formed), and Jewelry (must be original designs). 

All art works (up to three pieces per artist) must be dropped off at the Springfield Public Library at the following times: Thursday, Sept. 29, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.; Friday, Sept. 30, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 1, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. 

Art works must be original and artwork previously entered in this show will not be considered for display.

All two-dimensional works must be “gallery ready” including proper hanging hardware. If hardware not appropriate for proper hanging of piece, piece will not be accepted.

An entry fee of $10 total per artist is due upon submission of art.   

All entries are eligible for individual awards totaling $2,550 in cash including a Grand Prize of $500, First Prize of $400, Second Prize of $300, three Honorable Mention Awards at $150 each, 10 Certificates of Merit at $75 and Peoples’ Choice Award at $150. 

Artists are invited to write a paragraph or two about your artistic background and related experience / achievements (optional).   Please print legibly or type on a separate sheet of paper.  This can be submitted with art and paperwork.  

The last official day of the display will be Wednesday, November 23, and all art is required to be left hanging in the gallery until the Library closes on that day.   Works of art are to be picked up from Monday, November 28, before 5 p.m., through Friday, December 3, before 5 p.m.
