Brown County to hold informational meetings regarding roads and bridges
Brown County will be holding three public informational meetings throughout the county to explain the need for additional funding to maintain the roads and bridges of Brown County.
In 2013, the Minnesota Legislature authorized counties to approve a Local Option Sales Tax for Transportation. This option is currently being considered by the Brown County Commissioners as an additional funding mechanism for the budget of the County Highway Department. The Local Option Sales Tax for Transportation, road maintenance needs, construction costs, and other funding options will be discussed. Public input is requested.
The informational meeting in Springfield is scheduled to be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 31, at the Springfield Area Community Center.
The informational meeting at Sleepy Eye will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, at the Sleepy Eye Community Center.
The meeting in New Ulm will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at the License Bureau Building, 1900 N. Franklin Street.
