C of C names Spirit of Springfield, Business of the Year

“The things that I do, I do because I love to do them,” says Cheryl Diede, recipient of the 2018 Spirit of Springfield Award. “If someone feels I have made a difference in someone’s life, that makes a difference for me.”

She was presented the award at a dinner program and celebration sponsored by the Springfield Chamber of Commerce in the Springfield Area Community Center the evening of May 21.

“I’m doing what comes naturally,” Cheryl said during a recent interview. “I grew up with parents who were very involved in  community and church.”

Miesen Color Center, now in its fifty-seventh year, is being recognized as  2018 Business of the Year named by the Springfield Chamber of Commerce.

“It is quite an honor and I’m humbled by that,” said Jim Miesen, who with his brothers, Dan and John, are partners in the business started by their parents, Tom and Elaine Miesen, whose roots are deep in the Springfield community.

“It’s a nod to those who came before us,” said Jim during a recent interview.  “It makes me appreciate small town living.  Springfield is a great place to do business and raise children.”

“I attribute in a big part of our career to those who started here. It goes about 100 years or four generations.  “We were grandfathered in the business. It was a good situation to be in,” Jim recalled. “It makes one reflect on the whole history.”
