Comedian to headline Cheers event Saturday evening

Comedian/Magician David Harris will headline Springfield’s Cheers Tasting and Comedy Night at the Springfield Area Community Center Saturday evening. 

Harris is a Midwest Emmy Award Winning comedian, magician, and host who has been entertaining across the U.S. and Canada at clubs, colleges, and corporate events for over 20 years.  Based in Minneapolis, Harris has appeared to rave reviews on the Twin Cities’ ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC TV stations and was recently asked to participate in Minnesota’s own 10,000 Laughs Comedy Festival which took place in 2016. Harris also curates and hosts a hip, ongoing, on-stage comedy, variety, and talk show called, “Modern Vaudeville.” The live stage show regularly features the top comedy, variety, and music acts in the region at the Bryant Lake Bowl Theater in Minneapolis.  Harris’ personal and person-drive approach to the topics of work, family, relationships, and stress makes his act and style relatable to almost anyone while still being creative, fun, original, and most of all — hilarious.  

Featuring for the evening is comedian Kevin Cahak. Kevin tours all over the Midwest doing comedy clubs, fundraisers, county fairs, holiday parties and corporate events. Kevin’s clean comedy is heartfelt, laid back, mellow and interactive. He tours with some of the best nationally touring comedians and recently made his national TV debut on Showtime TV on Pauly Shore’s documentary “Pauly Shore Stands Alone.”  Kevin’s performance stands out from other entertainers with his different outlooks about comedy, family and life in general.

 

 Sampling of spirits 

Three major beer distributors will offer complimentary sampling of spirits for an hour and a half and will include 15-20 different kinds of beer, according to Clay Kretsch, owner and operator of Clay’s Liquors who was in charge of vendor recruitment.  Six wine vendors will bring a variety of wines from Minnesota, California, Argentina and Australia; and each vendor is expected to sample five to six kinds of popular wines. They will also be sampling a few other products such as Irish whiskeys, Irish liquors and other specialty drinks.  

An assortment of hors d’oeuvres will also be available during the wine tasting and beer sampling that runs from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
