Commencement set for Friday
Springfield High School will conduct its 2016 Commencement Friday evening, May 20, starting at 7:00 in the school gymnasium.
Fifty-one students — 26 young women and 25 young men — will walk through the school corridors one last time as students, march into the gymnasium to the music of Pomp and Circumstance to receive their diplomas, and leave the sheltering wings of their school to begin a new phase in their lives.
Leading class scholars, Valedictorian Ashley Larson and Salutatorian James Hoffmann, will give the commencement address.
The Springfield High School Band directed by Stephen Seaberg, and the Concert Choir, directed by Julie Prechel, will present several musical numbers during the program.
High School Principal Patrick Moriarty will present the Class of 2016. Superintendent of Schools Keith Kottke and School Board Chairman Charles Tews will award diplomas to the graduates.
Scholarships and special awards will be presented during the program.
