Community concerns discussed at council meeting

By Wendy Krier

Several members of the community voiced their concerns in regards to the apartment complex on the north side of town during last Tuesday’s regular council meeting.

The community members were concerned about an incident that happened a few days before at 10 W. Maple St.

One community member said this incident involved the same guy that was in their yard a month ago. They explained that during the incident a month ago, the Springfield police department did a great job and responded right away. They further explained that on the way to Sleepy Eye, the suspect assaulted an officer, was released the next day, and back in our community.

“Your own city police have been in there so many times I would think you’re getting sick of this crap,” said a different community member, adding, “this is a cause for shame.”

I know things are in place to get done, but the time is now to get things done, they added.
