Entries invited for Juried Art Show

The Springfield Public Library will be holding their 19th Annual Juried Art Show this fall funded by a generous grant from the Pieschel Foundation. The show will be held in the Altermatt Gallery of the Springfield Public Library, from Wednesday, Oct. 16, through Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019.
A reception will be held Wednesday evening, Oct. 16, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Awards will be announced at approximately 7:30 p.m. All participating artists and the public are invited.
Artistic Media Categories Include: Oil / Acrylic Painting, Sculpture, Mixed Media, Watercolor Painting, Drawing Media, Print Media, Photography (Photographers, please note if works are digitally enhanced), Digital Imaging (original computer designed images), Glass Blowing, Stained Glass, Woven Basketry, Pottery/Ceramics (no pre-cast or pre-formed), Jewelry (must be original designs).
All art works (no more than 2 pieces per artist) may be submitted to the Springfield Public Library at the following times: Drop-off hours at the Library are: Thursday, Oct. 3 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 4 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 5, from 9 – 11:00 a.m.
Art works must be original, and artwork previously entered in this show will not be considered for display; art needs to have been completed within the last five years.
All two-dimensional works must be “gallery ready” including proper hardware on the backside of the picture. If hardware is not appropriate, the piece will not be accepted for the show. An entry fee of $10 total per artist is due upon submission of art.
All entries are eligible for individual awards totaling $2,550 in cash: Grand Prize, $500; First Prize, $400; Second Prize, $300; 3 Honorable Mention Awards, $150 each; 10 Certificates of Merit at $75; and People’s Choice, $150.
The last official day of the display will be Wednesday, Nov. 27. Works of art are to be picked up from Monday, Dec. 2 (before 5 p.m.) through Friday and continues on Saturday, Dec. 7 (9-11 a.m.)
Artists are encouraged to write a paragraph or two about their artistic background and related experience/ achievements. This can be submitted with art and required paperwork.
