Hiking and Biking trails extended

Springfield’s Hiking and biking trail has been extended 1,610 feet with a new addition to the trail being built atop the levee along the north side of the Big Cottonwood River from the Springfield Area Community Center to CSAH 5.   That section, which was paved Monday, along with the current 15,840 feet (3 miles) of  trails gives us a total of 17,450 feet. The levee trail provides a scenic trek overlooking the river and Riverside Park.

The project is funded by the recent gift to the City of Springfield / Springfield Area Community Center from the Henry and Elsie Roiger estate.
