Memories of Christmas

Residents at St. John’s Circle of Care reminisce

The seasons are shifting again! From the long lit strands of evergreen above Central Street, to the inflatable snowmen and the illuminated trees outside of many of Springfield’s houses, decor all over town is changing. The recent snow and sudden chilling temperatures that we all knew were coming have also played a major role in making it feel just a little more like Christmas is on its way. Inside of St. John Lutheran Home, small ornaments hang from the ceiling, trees decorated with ornaments and colored lights occupy the corners of several rooms, and the members of the staff sing Christmas carols with the residents.

I had the opportunity recently to speak with a few of the residents at St. John’s about Christmas’ past, and some memories they have from winters long ago.
