Patty Wetterling to speak here today

This past Oct. 22 marked the 27th anniversary of the disappearance of Jacob Wetterling. For the past 27 years Patty Wetterling, Jacob’s mom, has served as an advocate for her son believing one day he would be found alive, and along the way she also became a champion for all children.

Speaking to groups, meeting with families and pushing for law changes at the state and federal levels, Wetterling focuses her efforts on helping “create a better world for our children.”

Since the body of Jacob Wetterling has been found, having been abducted, sexually abused and murdered by Danny Heinrich, creates an entirely new dynamic to the story.

Patty Wetterling continues to speak, and she is scheduled speak in Springfield today to share from her personal experiences how people can help to create a world that is worthy of its children. The presentation is being held at Springfield High School starting at 6:30 p.m.

The presentation will include a time for Wetterling to share her family’s story and how, working together, everyone can help prevent sexual abuse.

It is through events like this that the public hears how sexual abuse thrives in secrecy and how it is not typically perpetuated by strangers but by people the victim knows.
