Platz, Gardner win top FFA Awards

Two members of the Springfield FFA won high honors at the Region 6 FFA Banquet and Awards Ceremony at the Westbrook Community Center the evening of Monday, April 20.

Contest and Proficiency Awards were handed out at the banquet. Kaelyn Platz earned three of the 35 Proficiency Awards in Fruit Production, Vegetable Production and Diversified Horticulture.   Two thousand students in Region 6 were potentially eligible for the awards, so it was an honor for Kaelyn to receive three of the 35 Proficiency Awards, noted Springfield FFA Advisor T.J. Brown.  Kaelyn is the daughter of Darrell and Jolene Platz.

Keyen Gardner earned the Region Star Award, which is the top award given to the student selected from all 120 State Degrees in the region.   Springfield had five State Degrees in the group.  Keyen is the son of Scott and Pam Gardner.
