Sanborn community to host 84th annual Watermelon Days

The community of Sanborn will celebrate their eighty-fourth annual Watermelon Days on Monday and Tuesday, July 27 and 28.

The schedule of events for Melon Days is as follows:

Monday, July 27:  Kiddy Tractor Pull at 3:30 p.m. on River Street. The Kiddy Parade will be a 6:00 (with judging beforehand at 5:30 sharp). The Benson Family Singers will entertain at the Methodist Church lawn following the Kiddy Parade. The Fire Department Water Contests will be held on Dotson Street following the parade.  The Queen Pageant will be at The Sanborn Ballroom at 8:00. Drawings for bicycles and kiddy tractor will take place at 9:00.

Tuesday, July 28 — the Grand Parade will take place at 6:30 p.m.  Free watermelon will be served following the parade.  The Wendinger Band will also perform after the parade by the watermelon stand.

Midwest Rides will provide games, food and rides on the midway both days.  Food concessions will be available both days. There’ll be musical entertainment at the Sanborn Legion Hall on both Monday and Tuesday nights. The Sanborn Get Together will be at the Sanborn Legion Hall at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 28.
