SHS Homecoming 2015

School spirit is soaring as students at Springfield High School prepare for Homecoming — a week of activities for students and alumni next week.

Classes chose candidates for Homecoming King and Queen and attendants last week.

Candidates for Homecoming Queen are Kalley Hoffmann, Hannah Johnson, Micheala Leonard, Alexis Streich and Cheyanne Vogel.

Candidates for King are Sam Baier, Conner Bertram, Ben Groebner, Jaden Mickelson and Michael O’Callaghan.

Attendants to the royal court from grades 9, 10 and 11 are Sydney Schauman and Tim Rogotzke from the freshman class; Anna Plotz and Ross VanDerWal from the sophomore class; and Taylar Streich and Joe Pieschel from the junior class.

The coronation ceremony of the 2015 Homecoming King and Queen is set for 8:00 Monday evening, in the school auditorium.

There will be sporting activities and friendly competition between the classes for dress-up, hallway banners and other events.

Monday is Pajama Day. Tuesday will be Tourist Day or Twins Day.  Wednesday will be Wacky Characters Day.  Thursday will be Class Colors Day and the seventh-grade is asked to wear pink, the eighth-grade green, freshmen red, sophomores blue, juniors white, and seniors black, while the staff is asked to wear purple.  Friday will be Tiger Pride Day and students will show their school colors of maroon, white and gold, or animal wear!

The Homecoming parade will be held at 1:30 Friday, Oct. 2, and will promenade from the school down Central Street and into Riverside Park.  There’ll be a pep fest and powder puff game at the football field.

The Tigers will meet the Cedar Mountain / Comfrey Cougars in the homecoming game on the gridiron in Riverside Park at 7:00 Friday evening.

The annual Tiger Trek carried out by the elementary department will also take place on Friday, Oct. 2.
