Springfield to host Holiday Open House this evening

Springfield businesses will kickoff the holiday shopping season with  Holiday Open House this evening, Wednesday, Nov. 8.

Holiday Open House provides a preview of the many products and services available to shoppers along with ideas and information regarding what’s new and exciting for the Christmas holidays.

The city’s sidewalks will be busy sidewalks. The town will be decorated in holiday style; everywhere there will be a feeling of Christmas.

Santa will make his first visit to Springfield this holiday season during Holiday Open House.  He will be visiting the various businesses and handing out treats from 4 to 8 p.m.

A tree lighting ceremony will take place at Martha Anderson Park at 6:30.  There will be free horse-drawn wagon rides starting from Martha Anderson Park from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Don’t forget the highway and byways of Springfield either, because most Springfield businesses are welcoming visitors.

The Springfield Historical Society is also hosting open house this evening as they debut the Festival Trees. More than two dozen tree have been decorated by local organizations, businesses, churches, and SAHS volunteers.  Everyone is welcome to visit the museum to view the trees and are encouraged to vote for their favorite trees.
