Agnes Haechrel

 

Agnes Haechrel, age 99, of Morgan, MN died on March 25, 2022, at St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN. 

Visitation will be on Saturday, April 2, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the St. Raphael Catholic Church, Springfield, MN. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the church on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. 

The clergy will be Father Garrett Ahlers. Interment will be at the St. Raphael Catholic Cemetery in Springfield.

Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield, MN. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com.

Agnes, the daughter of John and Mary Hoffmann, was born on a family farm in the Waterbury township of Redwood County, Minnesota. She was baptized, received her First Communion, was confirmed and married to Richard Haechrel at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Wanda, Minnesota. She attended Wanda Consolidated School. Agnes was married to Richard Haechrel on June 8, 1943, and they resided in Springfield, Minnesota. Richard passed away in 1981. She married John Schmidt on May 2,1997 and they resided in Morgan. In her later years Agnes lived at Riverview Homestead Cooperative of Springfield and Gil-Mor Haven of Morgan.

Agnes was an active member of St. Raphael Catholic Church in Springfield, taught CCD, enjoyed sewing for the missions and church sales, and was involved in CCW and CAA. She is known for the many quilts and rugs she made for her children, many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as well as for the church. Agnes was a member of Springfield’s Senior Citizens where she played cards any time she had a chance. She also enjoyed taking bus trips with her friends. She was a skilled gardener and enjoyed canning the many vegetables she grew.

She is survived by her children Kathleen (Gary) Hadley, Robert (Sandy), JoAnne Hall, Annette Huth, Charlotte (Patrick) Schneider, Teresa Morton, Virginia (Duane) Waldriff, Paul (Denise), Myron (Denise), and David. She had 26 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. Agnes was preceded in death by her parents John and Mary; siblings John and Margaret; husbands Richard and John; children Carolyn, Loren and Michael.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Raphael Catholic Church or to your favorite charity in memory of Agnes.
