Alice Ludewig

Mass of Christian Burial for Alice C. Ludewig, 85, of Springfield, was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 25, at the Church of the Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth with the Rev. Andy Michels officiating. Interment will be in the Church of the Japanese Martyrs Cemetery.
Mrs. Ludewig died on Monday, March 20, 2017, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.
Alice C. Coners was born on Nov. 30, 1931, the daughter of Claus and Anna (Rhoden) Coners. She was united in marriage to Gilbert Ludewig on Sept. 11, 1951, at the Church of the Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth. Alice was a very active member of the Church of the Japanese Martyrs. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, bird watching, family visits, time at the lake and will be remembered for her apple pies.
She is survived by her children, Carol (Dave) Meyer of Osakis, Eugene (Kay) Ludewig of Springfield, Sherry (Donny) Bloemke of Sleepy Eye, and Clete (Julie) Ludewig of Sleepy Eye; a daughter-in-law, Debbie (Duane) Ludewig Distad; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gilbert, in 2011; son, Richard; daughters, Lori and Monica; and granddaughter, Kristin Bloemke; brothers, George, Fred Sr., Ralph, Herman, Hank, Ben, Claus Jr., Bert, Albert, and John; sisters, Ann Bever, Lula Flater, Marie Keuhl, Sophie Gordon, Tina Johnson and Tillie McVicker.
