Andrew Colburn

Andrew Rhynold Colburn, age 85, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, passed away, July 10, 2020 in Missouri Valley, Iowa. Andrew was born November 15, 1934 in Comfrey, Minnesota to the late Clifford and Alice (Brown) Colburn. He married Jeanette “Jan” Laux on April 20, 1954 at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Springfield, Minnesota. After marriage, Andrew enlisted in the U.S. Army and was medically discharged before the Vietnam War and returned to family. Andrew did farming with a team of horses. As a kid he liked telling stories about that, cross country rides, and the Saddle Club he helped start. Andrew made his acting debut in the movie Born to Buck in 1966 where he was cast as an extra. He was a Bronc Rider and a member of the American Legion Post #2 in Council Bluffs. After getting out of farming, they moved the family to Iowa. Andrew got into construction, moving around for the work. 

They eventually moved back to Springfield where they semi-retired. In 2016, they moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa to be close to family. Andrew was put into Longview Nursing Home for his dementia shortly later, where he passed away. 

In addition to his parents, Andrew was preceded in death by his first son, Charles; son-in-law, Artie Miller; grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-laws, Gladys (Merlyn) Tews, Ellen (Kenny) Richert, and Rose Bestland; in-laws, Wendelin and Esther Laux. 

Andrew is survived by his wife, Jeanette; daughter, Corinne “Corky” (James) Floyd, their children, Heather Camacho, her daughter, Alysha (Myles) Harris, their son, Levi and daughter, Anaya, special friend, Alisha Haley of Council Bluffs; Shawn (Rosie) Miller, their children, Clayton and Taylor, Angela Miller, her children, Harry and Haydn Walter all of Afton, Iowa, Brandon (fiancé, Amber) Floyd of Des Moines, Iowa, Daniel Floyd of Council Bluffs, Iowa; son, Steven (Rebecca) Colburn, their children, Nicholas, Christopher, his son, Colton, Dakota (fiancé, Natasha) of Creston, Iowa, Jessica (Brian) Cozad, children, Ethan, Lucas, Hannah, and Britney also of Creston, Iowa, Jennifer Self, son, Tyler of Creston, Johnny (Caitlin) Mordock of Yadkinville, North Carolina; sister, Carol (Roger) Kemp of Bloomington, Minnesota; brother-in-law, Lyle Bestland of Lake Andrew, Minnesota; nieces and nephews. 

Andrew has been cremated and no services will be held.
