Arthur E. Marben

Arthur E. Marben, 95, of Tracy died on July 14, 2018, in Apple Valley. A memorial service was held July 21 at White Funeral Home in Burnsville and burial was in Fort Snelling. 

Arthur Eugene Marben was born Nov. 7, 1922, graduated from Lamberton High School, attended Augsburg College, served in the U.S. Marine Corps , then returned to college and graduated in 1947. On Sept. 5, 1950, he married Carmen Smith in Springfield and shortly after was recalled to duty in the Marine Corps, stationed in Quantico, Va., where he served as Chief Executive Officer for the Marine Basic School. During his time at Quantico, he played shortstop for the Quantico Marines. In 1953 he was hired to teach at Tracy where he became high school principal in 1956 until his retirement in 1985. Educators and baseball enthusiasts have fond memories of him.

He is survived by his wife, Carmen; three children, Kurt (Brenda) Marben of Thief River Falls; Brenda (Tim) Barry of Tucson, Ariz., and Michael (Karen) Marben of Lakeville, eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert (Grace) Marben.
