Bruce Franklin Green, 81, formerly of Sanborn, died peacefully on Monday, January 26, 2015, surrounded by his family at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Golden and Nancy Green, at Adrian.
Funeral service was conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield with Pastor David Price officiating. Interment was in the Sanborn City Cemetery.
Bruce was born on the family farm on January 28, 1933 by Sanborn, Minnesota, the son of Golden and Lillie Green. He enlisted in the army in 1953, fought in the Korean War, and retired from the military after almost 40 years of service. He loved to hunt, fish, and garden. His greatest passion was to fly one engine airplanes.
Bruce was proceeded in death by his parents, his sister Esther Bender, and his brother, Benhard Green.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Ruth Green, and brother, James Green of Iron, Minnesota; his children: Sandra (Darrell) Johnson, Golden (Nancy) Green, Linda Marx, Bruce (Bev) Green, Donald Green, and Patrick (Stacy) Green; 12 grandchildren: Darrell, Sarah, Jenny, Charissa, Jessica, Miranda, Lisa, Kelly, Derek, Andy, Ashley, and Anna; and seven great-grandchildren: Lucas, Curtis, Rebecca, Harley, Raelynn, Linzi, and George.
