Bruce Lawrence Toll was born on December 3, 1941 to Lavis and Evelyn (Ladwig) Toll of Comfrey. He grew up on a farm outside of town and graduated from Comfrey High School. He then attended Dunwoody College in Minneapolis for mechanics. Bruce moved back to Comfrey to help his dad on the family farm. On February 28, 1965 he was united in marriage to Ramona Willms. They were blessed with 3 children, 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Bruce truly had a love for farming and helped with planting and harvest into his 80’s. He ran the road grader for Bashaw Township for over 20 years. For all close to him, Bruce became the go to for everything. Whether it was the repair of a car, truck, tractor, appliance, or building something, he was the first call and when he got done, it was better and stronger than the original. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge of basketball by coaching many elementary teams while his kids were growing up. He was on the Comfrey School Board and Faith Lutheran Church Council for many years.
Outside of his work, Bruce enjoyed a variety of hobbies. He was an avid collector and restorer of cars and farm tractors, taking great pride in preserving history through these machines. He also loved traveling, playing golf, boating, and playing cards. Above all, Bruce cherished spending time with his family. He loved watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports, he was always a proud and enthusiastic supporter of their many accomplishments.
Whether working the fields or supporting younger generations, Bruce was known for his strong work ethic, witty sense of humor, deep love for his family, and a generous spirit that touched the lives of many.
