Clement Wersal, 76, died on Sunday, June 21, 2015, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Springfield.
Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 25, at St. Raphael Catholic Church with the Rev. Phil Schotzko officiating. Interment will be in St. Raphael Cemetery.
Visitation will be today (Wednesday, June 24), from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield Chapel and will continue on Thursday at St. Raphael Church from 9:30 until time of services. A rosary will be held at 10:15 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Clement Andrew Wersal was born April 12, 1939, to George and Frieda (Haas) Wersal in Springfield, Brown County, Minnesota. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1968. On May 31, 1969, he was united in marriage to Donna Kieper in Springfield. Clem started as a farmer and then worked various jobs as an Oak Grove Dairy delivery man, at Vigorena Feeds, and Harvest Land Cooperative. He was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church, Catholic Order of Foresters, and John Watson Post 257 American Legion. Clem enjoyed working outside on the family farm where he lived his entire life. He enjoyed playing cards, pegs and jokers, listening to polka music, going south in the winter, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Wersal; children, Troy (Susan) Wersal of Searles, Kristine (Marty) Becker of Springfield, Amy (special friend Vince) of Mankato, and Tammy (Scott) Arnsdorf of Springfield; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Annette (Buzz) Kelly of Comfrey and Patty Helget of Cleghorn, Iowa; nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Clem is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Arlene Stage, Delores Roiger, and Marcella Sierens; brothers, Peter, Robert, Leo, George Jr., and Lenis.
