Darlene Elizabeth Wilstermann

 

Darlene Elizabeth Wilstermann, age 88, a longtime resident of Springfield, MN, died Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Diamond Willow Care Center in Detroit Lakes, MN. 

Darlene was born October 10, 1936 in Westbrook, MN to Theodore and Elizabeth (Sell) Zoeller. She was baptized at the American Lutheran Church in Westbrook. Darlene graduated from Westbrook High School in 1954. During her high school years and after graduation she worked at the Red Owl Store in Westbrook. Darlene met her husband Donald Wilstermann at the Onamia, MN Bible camp. They married June 12, 1955. The family welcomed baby girl Darla in 1963. Darlene played the organ at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield. She helped Don run the V&S Variety Store in Springfield for several years. Darlene’s handiwork included crafts, embroidery and finishing needle work started by her mother. You could watch Darlene on KEYC-TV dancing the polka with Donald on Saturday nights. 

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband and daughter. 

She is survived by, son-in-law Jay Benusa and grandson Jayson, both of Las Cruces, NM, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Darlene was buried Wednesday, December 18 at the Minnesota Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN, resting with her husband.
