Deloris Kastner

Mass of Christian Burial for Deloris Kastner, 90, was held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 5, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Comfrey with the Rev. Phil Schotzko officiating. Interment was in St. Paul Catholic Cemetery in Comfrey.

Mrs. Kastner died Monday, August 1, 2016, at Prairie Senior Cottages in New Ulm. 

Deloris Mary Kastner was born March 11, 1926, in Sanborn, Redwood County, Minnesota, to John and Anna (Wolf) Vogel. She was united in marriage to Joseph Kastner on June 12, 1946, in Sanborn during a double-wedding ceremony where her sister was also married.  The couple farmed for 15 years near Sanborn, then owned and operated Kastner Ford in Comfrey from 1962-1979.  During that time, Deloris worked at the Comfrey Hospital, Colburn’s Grocery and Peter’s Bar and Grill in Comfrey. She later worked at Jackpot Junction until moving to Texas in 1988. Deloris moved back to Minnesota in 2010. She was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church and the CCW.  Deloris enjoyed garage sales, bowling, ceramics, parades, jigsaw puzzles, and especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by children, Stachia (John) Schumacher of Comfrey, Larry (Sally) Kastner of Mound, Linda (Scott) Zeig of New Ulm, Lonnie (Gary) Carlson of South Haven, Rick (Michelle) Kastner of Comfrey, Reggie (Heidi) Kastner of Litchfield, Dan (Dawn) Kastner of Fairmont, and Joe (Robin) Kastner of Northfield; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren (and two on the way); one great-great-grandchild; sister, Mary Ann Davis of Minneota; brother, Gerhardt Vogel of San Diego; and sister-in-law, Marianne Vogel of St. Peter.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph, in 1986; grandson, David Wolle; and brother, Raymond Vogel.
