Doris Windschitl, 75, of Sleepy Eye, died on Friday, November 2, 2018, at Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye.
Funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, in the Church of the Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth with Father Andy Michels officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Doris Windschitl, daughter of Michael and Mathilda (Sellner) Windschitl, was born on September 18, 1943, in the Comfrey Hospital. She attended school at the Church of the Japanese Martyrs School in Leavenworth and graduated from Comfrey High School in 1962. Doris grew up on the family farm south of Leavenworth and moved to Sleepy Eye in 1964. After working for over 36 years at Norwood, Doris retired in March of 2007. She was a member of the Church of the Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth and Christian Mothers Society. Doris enjoyed painting, crocheting and old time music.
She is survived by her siblings, Marvin (Esther) Windschitl of Comfrey, Walter (Margaret) Windschitl of Sleepy Eye, Phyllis Wersal of Springfield, and Gladys (Jerry) Homan of Hutchinson; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, George Wersal Jr.; niece, Marie Windschitl; a great-nephew, Patrick Wenisch; and a brother in infancy.
