Dorothy E. (Potter) Pramann

Dorothy Ellen Pramann, 92, passed on Nov. 3, 2016, at Cherrywood Pointe in Savage. She was born on July 5, 1924, to Ethel and Reuben Potter in New Ulm, and grew up on the family homestead in Springfield. As a youngster, Dorothy was active in 4-H Club for many years. She worked summers and weekends as a secretary at her father’s livestock business and in the 1940s, was the first female licensed and bonded livestock weigher in Minnesota.

Dorothy attended the University of Minnesota where she earned a degree in Home Economics. Dorothy married Howard Pramann in 1946 and they spent most of their lives in Duluth. She later earned her teaching certificate in home economics.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; siblings, Lydia Kohler, Dick Potter, Jean Beske, and David Potter; and daughter, Deborah Pramann. She is survived by sons, Kelly Pramann and David (Mary) Pramann; daughter, Marie Zhuikov; grandchildren, Katie Pramann, Travis Pramann, Tyler Pramann, Rachael (Ryan) Archambault, Logan Sales and Hunter Zhuikov; and great-grandson, Porter Richard. 

Visitation will be at noon, Friday Nov. 18,  until the 1 p.m. service at Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapel, Crystal Lake Cemetery, 3816 Penn Ave. N., Minneapolis.
