Dorothy Wells

Dorothy J. Wells, 73, of Springfield, died on Thursday, September 22, 2016, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.

Mass of Christian Burial was conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 26, at St. Raphael Catholic Church with The Rev. Phil Schotzko officiating.   Interment was in St. Raphael Cemetery.

Dorothy J. Wells was born on November 22, 1942, in Tracy, Minnesota, the daughter of Fred Jr. and Helen (Seltz) Goltz. She graduated from Tracy Public High School. She was united in marriage to James Wells on September 2, 1961. The couple moved to Marshall where she worked as a cook and waitress in downtown Marshall. The couple moved to Springfield in 1962 and Dorothy worked for several different owners at the Marshall Avenue restaurant, retiring after 37 years. She continued baking for several groups and special occasions. She loved cooking and baking, word search puzzles, cross-stich, visits to the casino, shopping trips, and, most of all, time with family and grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Dean (Dilma) Wells of Sarasota, Florida, Todd (Joy) Wells of Springfield, and Joan (Tim) Wells of Slayton; and grandchildren, Nick Wells, Justin Krueger, Amanda (John) Blum, Austin (fiancée Madi) Krueger, Danielle Wells, Zachary Wells, Kylee Wells, Erika Wells and Charity Kunselman. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Kathy Dieken; and granddaughter, Lexi Wells.
