Earl Lee Janshen

 

Earl Lee Janshen was born on June 21, 1954, in Adrian, Minnesota to Lester and Ruby (Stevens) Janshen. He graduated from Ellsworth High School and shortly after attended Pipestone where he received a diploma in Meat Cutting. He was united in marriage to Marlette (Broesder) Janshen on June 29, 1974.  

Earl was a jack of all trades. His dream to own his very own locker plant(s) came true. He loved teaching and passing his traits down to his children. He also spent many of years at Sanborn Manufacturing plant. Upon retirement Earl was working as a custodian at WCA school districts where he retired and received his bell on May 31, 2020. His love for his family and friends, sense of humor, laughter, and drinking his Schmidt beer is something that will never be forgotten. He enjoyed woodworking, serving on the Barrett City Council, camping, garage sales, driving his golf cart around, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.  

Earl passed away peacefully at the Barrett Care Center surrounded by his family on January 6, 2022, after a short battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Marlette Janshen; children Jacqueline (Tony) Stuhr, Sherri (Jason) Wendt, Kimberly (Jeremy) Mueller and daughter-in-law, Teena Janshen. Grandchildren Chelsey (Tyler), Zachery (Sarah), Trenton, Abigail, Samantha, Preston, Jacob, Jeremy, James and 2 great-granddaughters. Sister, Judy Heikes; brothers, Larry (Susan) and Jim (Rose) Janshen, and many nieces and nephews.  

He was preceded in death by his late son, Travis Janshen; parents, Lester and Ruby Janshen; grandsons, Jason Wendt, Jr., and Andy Nelson; In-laws, Alvin and Deloris Broesder, brothers-in-law, Robert Heikes, Verlyn Broesder and Merle Broesder.   

Visitation: 5 – 7 p.m. Friday, January 14 at the Erickson-Smith Funeral Home in Elbow Lake and resuming one hour prior to the service at the church.  

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Peace Lutheran Church, Barrett, MN.  

Spring Interment at Covenant Cemetery, Barrett
