Emma Rogotzke

Emma V. Rogotzke, 99, of Springfield, died on December 3, 2016, at St. John Lutheran Home.

Funeral services will be held at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield, at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 8, with Pastor Tricia Mattson officiating. Interment will be at the Springfield City Cemetery.

Visitation will be today (Wednesday, December 7) 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield and will continue on Thursday from 9:30 until 10:30 am at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield.

Emma Viola Rogotzke was born October 3, 1917, to George and Anna (Hagen) Grieger in Echo, Minnesota. After her schooling she worked at the Mint Café in Redwood Falls. The café is where she met August Rogotzke, whom she married June 1, 1937.  August and Emma farmed near Sanborn for many years. From 1965 to 1991, Emma worked at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting — making many quilts for missions, cooking, doing puzzles, and fishing. Emma was known for her sense of humor. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield.

She is survived by her children, Jeanette (Willis) Meyer of Lamberton, Beverly Sheets of Bismarck, N.D., Arnold (Barbara) Rogotzke of Sanborn, Cleo Graff of Albertville, and Linda Jessen of Eden Prairie; 24 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren;  her half-brother, George Grieger of St. Louis Park; and step brother, Wally Conrad of Pine River. Emma was preceded in death by her parents; husband August; son Augie; a great-grandchild; and her brothers and sisters.
