Ethel Sophie Finger, 93, died on Friday, January 29, 2016, at St. John Lutheran Home.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 5, at Zion Lutheran Church. The funeral service will immediately follow at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor David G. Fretham officiating.  Interment will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Springfield. 

Ethel Finger was born on May 6, 1922, to Harry and Clara (Sanders) Sanders on the family farm south of St. James. She attended St. Paul Lutheran School until sixth-grade. Ethel’s family moved to Comfrey and she attended the public school until eleventh-grade and then went on to graduate from St. James High School. Ethel married Albert Finger on January 11, 1941. In 1960, the couple moved to Springfield. Ethel worked at Artisan in Redwood Falls until her retirement in 1990. She enjoyed volunteering her time, coffee and cards with friends, and traveling. Ethel was a member of the Senior Citizens and Zion Lutheran Church where she served on the LWML, and many years as treasurer of the LWML. 

She is survived by her son, Richard (Retha) Finger of Lewiston; daughters, Sharon Finger of Brooklyn Park, Marilyn Roers of Alexandria and Carol Young of Blaine; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and four great-great- grandchildren. Ethel was preceded in death by her son, Darrell; sons-in-law, Duane Roers and Ed Young; granddaughter, Sherry Young; brothers, Harvey (Marion) and Marland (Gladys); and sister, Arlene Kleine.
