Floyd Isaksen

Floyd Isaksen, 74, of Springfield, died on Saturday, September 26, 2015, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Chapel of the Good Shepherd at St. John Lutheran Home with Chaplain Noel Wetter officiating. Interment will be at the Springfield City Cemetery.

Visitation will be today (Wednesday, Sept. 30) from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield Chapel, and will continue on Thursday at the Chapel of the Good Shepherd, St. John Lutheran Home from 9:30 am until time of services. 

Floyd ‘Ike’ Isaksen was born on June 12, 1941, in Springfield, the son of Harry and Eleanor (Platz) Isaksen. He attended country school in Northstar Township and graduated from Springfield Public High School in 1959. Ike farmed with his father and brother. He then enlisted in the National Guard in 1963 and served six years. He was united in marriage to Judi Anderson on April 15, 1967, in Sioux Falls, S.D. He returned to Northstar Township and farmed until retiring in 2003. He also worked at Amsden Stockyard for 30 years. Ike was baptized and a member of St Johns Lutheran Church and also a member of Springfield American Legion. He enjoyed playing softball, watching the Minnesota Vikings/Twins and spending time with his family and friends. 

He is survived by his wife, Judi of Springfield; children, Kristin Isaksen of Minneapolis and Kendra Isaksen of Minneapolis; a brother, Dean (Judy) Isaksen of Springfield; and sisters, Marlys (Bob) Vanderwerf of Springfield, Maureen Kersten of Springfield and Sheryl Lynn Thieman of Colome, S.D. He was preceded in death by his parents.
