Funeral service for Gertrude Weedman, 92, of Springfield, was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 30, at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Julie Smith officiating.  Interment was in the Springfield City Cemetery.

Mrs. Weedman died Saturday, January 23, 2016, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield. 

Gertrude Anna Mary Rosenau was born in Eldridge, North Dakota, on February 1, 1923, to Herman and Marie (Trebesch) Rosenau. After moving to Minnesota, they lived on a farm near Lamberton. Gertrude graduated from Lamberton High School.  She was united in marriage to Kenneth Weedman on November 6, 1942, at the Zion Lutheran Parsonage in Sanborn. When Kenneth returned from the service, they farmed near Wanda and later by Marshall where Gertrude worked as a seamstress at Carrow Cleaners. Later they moved to a hobby farm at Walnut Grove, then to Springfield. Gertrude always enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, sewing and quilting. She became a resident of St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield on November 4, 2014, where she enjoyed the activities they had available.

Mrs. Weedman is survived by son, Duane (Bev) Weedman of Tracy; daughter, Diane (Grant) Lade of Springfield; eight grandchildren, Troy Lade, Jason Lade, Shannon Sammons, Michelle Marotzke, Amber Greeley, Heidi Bitker Dustin Weedman, and Amanda Weedman; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Irene McKelvey of Seattle, Washington, Mary Haas of Springfield, and Deloris Reinarts of Tracy; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Hansen of Hutchinson and Lorna Weedman of New Ulm; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Marie Rosenau; husband, Kenneth, in 2006; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
