Gladys Moravetz

Gladys M. Moravetz, 90, died on Friday, September 23, 2016, at St. John Lutheran Home.

Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 29, in the Chapel of the Good Shepherd at St. John Lutheran Home. The funeral service will follow at 11 o’clock. Chaplain Noel Wetter will officiate.  Interment will be at the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.

Gladys Moravetz was born on December 22, 1925, in Norman Township, near Porter, the daughter of Edward and Myrtle (Miller) Cleveland. She attended and graduated from Canby High School. Gladys was united in marriage to Ernest Moravetz on April 7, 1947, in Canby. The couple resided in Ivanhoe, before moving to Springfield in 1954. In 1993, they moved to Tucson, Arizona and returned to Springfield in 2007. Gladys worked for Dr. E.L. Penk and the Springfield Medical Center. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Springfield Golf Club. Gladys enjoyed playing golf, bridge, and the friendship of her birthday group. 

She is survived by her children, Linda (James) Renner of The Villages, Florida, Vicki (Barry) Armstrong of Golden Valley, and Melissa (David) Prokosch of Springfield; grandchildren, Jill (Nathan) Sargent, Kyle (Nikki) Renner, Emily (Greg) Kuzinski, Reid Lang, Ashley (Ryan ) Anderson, Heather (Eugene) Slaba, and Kendall Prokosch; 9 great-grandchildren; a sister, Elda Amundson; three brothers-in-law, and a sister-in-law. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest, in 2011; four brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; and mother and father in-law, Eva and Louis and Eva.

Sturm Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
