Glenn was born May 4, 1925, to Mary and Herman Dammann in Sanborn, MN. Glenn grew up on a farm with his three brothers and two sisters and attended a small country school nearby. His parents were great friends with Floyd and Rosie Simpson, and through their family friendship, he met Arlene Simpson. He and Arlene started dating in their teenage years and they would hang out together on the farm or go into town and share ice cream. Their love grew and eventually, they got engaged. Glenn was later drafted into the service in 1945 to serve in World War II. Glenn traveled on the S.S. Marine Swallow to Yokohama, Japan, to be part of the bomb clean-up crew and later was shipped to Tokyo to work on an electrical and telephone switchboard. While overseas, he mailed back white satin fabric for Arlene to make her wedding dress. When he returned, the two married in Lamberton on September 8, 1949, and shared 74 wonderful years together. In 1949, Glenn built the home he and Arlene lived in for 67 years. He took great pride in building their life together and being a caretaker of their home.

Glenn was the proud father of Larry and Debra and supported them in all their endeavors. He and Larry spent time hunting, fishing, and building the family lake cabin on Kandiyohi Lake. And, he spent time educating Larry on the electrician business and eventually turned the business over to him. Glenn also had fierce love and was a protector of his little Debbie. He built her space at his house to run Deb’s Beauty Hut and was always supporting her.

Glenn lived a life of generosity and service to others, which was reflected in his exceptionally hard work ethic and deep dedication to his family and community. He was a smart and skilled electrician and a small business owner, running Sanborn Electric for over 30 years. Glenn was long considered a pillar of the Sanborn community. He was a proud veteran and member of the Sanborn American Legion for 75 years. He was a volunteer firefighter, managed the Sanborn City Cemetery, and even served as town Mayor. Glenn and Arlene were also active and devout members of the United Methodist Church in Sanborn. Glenn was, at his core, a good neighbor, bringing his fix-it expertise to anyone in town with a problem. He was frequently spotted helping prepare for Watermelon Days, marching in the honor guard for Memorial Day, cleaning up the cemetery, checking in on farmers, and helping his fellow small business owners uptown.

Glenn is survived by his two children, Larry (Jan) Dammann of Rosemount and Debra Kelly of Richfield; grandchildren - Amy Dammann of Hudson, Ben (Donna) Jensen of Sartell, Tara Jensen of Minneapolis, Jason (Lisa) Dammann of Plymouth, and Lana (J.J.) Slygh of Chanhassen; and 10 great-grandchildren - Trent, Alexis, Tyler, Lacey, Kinley, Nolan, Reyna, Louie, Edison, and Amel, and his sister Melva. Glenn was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene, his parents, Mary and Herman Dammann, and his siblings Stanley, Gerald, Ardell, and Elden.
