Helen Kaseforth

Helen Kaseforth, 99, formerly of Springfield, died Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at Masonic Home in Bloomington.

Funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 26, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Springfield with Pastor David G. Fretham officiating. Interment was in the Sanborn City Cemetery.

Helen Marguerite Kaseforth was born December 9, 1916, in Terril, Iowa, to Floyd and Rosa (Kallsen) Simpson. The family moved to Wyoming shortly after Helen’s birth and lived there for three years before moving to Sanborn. She graduated from Sanborn High School and was married to LuVerne Schwarm who died in 1947.  Helen was then united in marriage to Ervin Kaseforth on February 24, 1949, at the Zion Lutheran Parsonage in Springfield. She worked for Clem’s Jewelry & Gifts before joining Ervin in the farm operations. The couple farmed until 1975 and moved to Springfield in 1976. Helen enjoyed gardening, playing cards and games, cooking, reading, and especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by sons, Kenneth and wife Bonnie of Bloomington, and Mark and wife Kathy of Hays, Kansas; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Esther Foy of Redwood Falls, Mary (Gary) Raitz of Maple Grove, Arlene (Glenn) Dammann of Springfield, and Delores Hogen of Redwood Falls; and sisters-in-law, Lillian Schiller of New Ulm and Ruth Kaseforth of Springfield; plus numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin, in 2004; sisters and brothers-in-laws, Gladys (Clarence) Burns of Montevideo, and Ethel (Willard) Dungey of Lamberton; sisters-in-law, Viola Johansen of Montevideo, Elizabeth (Stan) Hansen of Willmar, and Cleona (Bud) Bliss of Seaforth; and brothers-in-law, Edwin Kaseforth of Springfield, Al Schiller of New Ulm, Norman Foy of Sanborn, and Don Hogen of Sanborn.
