Hilda (Kjobstad) Dick-Anderson lived to be the amazing age of 102. She was born in Odin Township, Watonwan County, MN on June 26, 1917 to Norwegian farmers Albert and Gunhilda “Nellie” (Bjerkness) Kjobstad. Hilda was one of five children. She was baptized and confirmed at Long Lake Lutheran Church in rural Odin. Hilda was educated in a small country schoolhouse and worked the family farm alongside her brother after her father suffered a debilitating illness. As young as 10 years old, Hilda ran her own team of horses out in the fields. Hilda met Wesley Dick at an old-fashioned barn dance. They later married on June 19, 1937, in the home she grew up in. They lived in Mountain Lake until 1946, when they moved to Springfield with their five children - Gerald, Glenice, twins Ronald and Rachel, and Wesley Jr. In 1950, Wesley died in a tragic automobile accident, leaving her to raise her five young children. On December 31, 1957, Hilda married Crofton (Cuddy) Anderson at St. John Lutheran Church in  Springfield. After raising her children, Hilda decided to go back to school. She obtained her LPN license from Mankato Area Vocational Technical Institute in May of 1972. She then worked at the Springfield Hospital until her retirement in 1979. Hilda was a long-time member of St. John Lutheran Church and was very active in her church circle and quilting group. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for over 65 years. Hilda enjoyed playing pinochle and other card games, having belonged to a ladies card club for many years. Hilda was always optimistic, cheerful, energetic, and a woman of great strength. She was incredibly kind to people of all ages and only saw the good in others.

Hilda was beloved by all and will be greatly missed.
