Janice Anderson

Janice Anderson, 75, of Springfield, died on Wednesday, January 6, at her home.

Funeral service was held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 9, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye, with Pastor Keith Ainsley officiating.  Interment was in the Springfield City Cemetery.

Janice Marie Anderson was born on February 29, 1940, in Mountain Lake, the daughter of Lewis and Rosella (Feil) Wellner. She grew up on a farm in Stately Township and graduated from Comfrey High School in 1958. Janice attended college for a short time in Mankato and then moved to the Twin Cities to work. She married M. Curtis Anderson on September 8, 1962, at Stately Lutheran Church. Until children came, Jan worked briefly in Clements, and she and Curt farmed for 37 years in Sundown Township where she enjoyed gardening, mowing lawn, baking, and canning fruits and vegetables. Other hobbies included camping, snowmobiling, and bowling with family and friends. Jan and Curt also liked playing cards with the neighbors. Jan was an active member of Sundown Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school for many years and participated in the ladies’ groups. After Curt’s death in 1999, Jan remained on the farm until 2011, when she moved to her home in Springfield. She then joined Trinity Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye.  Most recently, Jan enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and her cats, Rosco and Molly, having coffee with her friends at The Garage, and watching football. She was one of the few people who loved both the Vikings and the Packers!

She is survived by her son, Greg, and his special friend, Lynn Marks of Sleepy Eye, his daughter, Hana, of Springfield, and his daughter, Nita, from St. Cloud; her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Todd Wilmes of Springfield and their children Paul of North Mankato and Lea and Dave Zarrett  of Mankato; her sister, Cheryl Smith (Ron), from Jordan; and brother, Richard Wellner (special friend Mary Corwin), from Lafayette, Indiana; her sister-in-law, Clarice Anderson, of Springfield; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and her parents-in-law, Alfred and Ardella Anderson.

Blessed be her memory.
