Mrs. Streich died Sunday, September 18, 2016, at her home at the age of 86 years.

JoAnne Claire (Scanlon) Streich was born September 24, 1929, in Buffalo, Minnesota, to Joseph and Edna (Galvin) Scanlon. She graduated from Maple Lake High School in 1947 and was valedictorian of her class. After high school, she moved to Glencoe where she met Virgil Streich on New Year’s Eve 1947. They married on October 26, 1948, at St. Timothy’s Church in Maple Lake.  Jo and Virg moved to Springfield in June 1955 when they purchased the Corner Bar that they operated until 1976. JoAnne was a devoted and active member of St. Raphael parish, serving at various times as a seamstress, typist, religious education teacher, lector, reading tutor, Eucharistic minister, and in many other ways. For many years she was in business as a tax preparer and estate administrator. She was an avid bridge player and played as often as she could until just recently. She also enjoyed quilting, gardening, reading, and being with her friends and family.

She will be remembered by her family for her strength, her dry wit, and her unconditional love and support.
