Funeral service for Julia “Julie” A. Schmitt, 57, of Comfrey, was held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 23, at New Hope Lutheran Church in Comfrey.  Interment will be in St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, Comfrey, at a later date.

Julie lost her battle with cancer and died Thursday, March 19, 2015, at her home.

Julia Ann Rathman was born March 15, 1958, in Sleepy Eye, graduated from Sleepy Eye High School and Rasmussen Business College. She married John A. Schmitt on Nov. 27, 1982. Through the years, she worked at Comfrey and Springfield  clinics, the Sioux Trails Mental Health Center, KNUJ, Divine Providence Community, Home, Christensen Family Farms, Sleepy Eye Chamber of Commerce, Bridging Brown County, and Sleepy Eye Medical Center.

She is survived by her husband, John; two daughters and sons-in-law; grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
