Kathryn Bruckbauer

Kathryn Mahree (Tauer) Bruckbauer passed away peacefully in Waconia, Thursday, April 18, 2019.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Joseph’s Catholic Community in Waconia today (Wednesday, April 24) at 11:00 a.m. with Father Stan Mader as Celebrant of the Mass. Visitation begins at 9:30 at the church. Casket Bearers are Kathryn’s grandchildren.

Final Resting Place at Gethsemane Cemetery in New Hope.

Kathryn was born on June 18, 1932, to Edward and Grace (Ryan) Tauer in Springfield, Brown County, Minnesota, the youngest of four children.

In her youth, she attended St. Raphael’s Catholic grade school and Springfield High School. At the age of 24, she happily married Francis Bruckbauer on July 7, 1956. Together they had six children, Mike (Katie), Pat (Ida), Robert (Cindy), Beth (Joe) Kalb, Greg (Kathy), and Billy (deceased). Francis passed away of cancer in September of 1969.

Kathy was a strong, caring woman. She made a career in the banking industry, but also built and managed her own catering business in which she was most known for her beautiful wedding cakes.

Later in life, Kathy was active in her community; helping in numerous civic, church, school, and social organizations in St. Louis Park. She retired to Waconia in 1994, where she continued to be an active community member. One of her greatest impacts was being instrumental in creating the Waconia United Food Shelf.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Grace Tauer; husband, Frank; son, Billy; brother, Edward Tauer; sister, Joan Schumann; and brothers-in-law, Jim Schumann, Jim Lamm, Bill Knight, and Jim Hyde.

Kathryn is survived by her loving family — children, Mike “Bruck” (Katie) Bruckbauer of Fargo, North Dakota, Pat (Ida) Bruckbauer of Stanchfield, Robert (Cindy) Bruckbauer of Big Lake, Beth (Joe) Kalb of Waconia,  and Greg (Kathy) Bruckbauer of Plover, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Kellie (Leon) Knodel, Philip Bruckbauer, Danny Bruckbauer, Frankie Bruckbauer, William (Alyssa) Bruckbauer, Mary Bruckbauer, Katie (Given) Kalipinde, Tommy Kalb, Michael Kalb, Matthew Kalb, AnnMarie Kalb, Molly Kalb, Jaken Bruckbauer and fiancee Anna, Josh Bruckbauer and fiancee Paula, and Aaron Bruckbauer; great-grandchildren, Lillie Knodel, Elijah Knodel, Levi Knodel, Ellie Bruckbauer, Anastasia Bruckbauer; sister, Jean Lamm of Waconia; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, MaryAnn Tauer of Springfield, Audrey (Don) Williams of St. Paul, Adrienne Hyde of Minneapolis, and Carol Knight of Austin, Texas; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

The family asks that any memorials for Kathy be made to the Waconia United Food Shelf.
